The gentle postures help to relieve fluid retention, improve circulation, flexibility, stamina, strength and help to open the pelvis to prepare for labour. You will learn some breathing techniques that are useful in labour and others that will help you to relax and also to help you feel energised. With each set of Core Yoga sessions you will have access to useful information that supports the techniques you learn in class on everything from pelvic floor exercises to optimal foetal positioning and from breathing exercises to perineal massage.

Being
pregnant is one of the most challenging, exciting and life-changing time’s in a
women’s life and you often feel like you are on an emotional roller-coaster. As
your posture adapts to the growing uterus, your posture will change and lower
back pain may occur. Muscles can feel fatigued due to the extra weight gain and
digestion becomes sluggish often causing constipation. As the blood chemistry
changes you can experience oedema, (fluid retention), making your feet and legs
feel very restless and stiff. As well as morning sickness, sleepless nights,
tender breasts, shortness of breath and heart burn to contend with, it is a
very challenging time. Some women experience no problems during pregnancy
whilst others can feel dreadful at times. Core Yoga classes will introduce you
to potential new friends who may very well be feeling just like you and that
social interaction together with the beneficial effects of the class can help
make you feel more positive.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what stage of pregnancy can I join pregnancy yoga and how long can I keep coming to classes?

You can start attending classes anytime from week 14 onwards.
